110% worth the hype

I only review products when they are epically good or biblically bad. This is one of the rare times that something exceeded all expectations and was actually worth the long wait. I have literally tried everything in the 6.0 lineup except the Black Diamond 16mm. I would alternate from the 14mm Ruby and 14mm BD and have been waiting for the Opal to come out since I heard of it. I've only been playing for a couple days with it and normally I would play for a couple weeks before passing judgement, but I don't have to do that for this one. I thought that a "max power" paddle would play like a 11mm gearbox with extremely limited control. The hype is 100% real! The Opal absolutely plays like a 16mm. Control is amazing, power is elite, spin is fantastic, balance is great, and the sweet spot is very good (considering it is a power paddle). My only minor issue is the edges are almost dead on a misshit. For me, the only moderate learning curve on this paddle is the pop and resets. You can't have "max power" without pop. I was expecting pop to be at least twice what the paddle produces along with resets, but they are totally manageable with decent mechanics. I'm guessing a couple weeks of playtime should quell the popups and resets. I get that everything is preference and I've tried 70+ paddles in the past couple years and have not experienced a paddle like the Opal. The wait has been worth what they gave us. Gratitude to 6.0 for taking their time and getting this one right. The Opal is the weapon I've been searching for since I've been playing. Hats off to 6.0!

Well worth the price

At first, I wasn't sure if this was going to be my new go to/tourney paddle, but after playing with it and making some adjustments, boy was I wrong, really enjoying the effortless power and spin I can generate with the opal.

I spin the ball a lot, but I reckon I can get and extra 2 feet of movement with the Opal.

I struggled with power and it gives a truer hit with more effortless power.

It is easier on my wrist, arm and elbow.

All round has improved my game.

There is a lot of technology that is in this paddle. For a 14mm paddle it plays like a 16mm, but without the heaviness. Lightening quick at the kitchen, with a dwell time of the ages for dinking and resets,, it has the power/pop and more so the grit to need to bedazzle your opponents with spin and slice.
A master paddle! The grit is next level true and doesn’t appear to be fading at all like so many others promise but cannot deliver.
